CRANKSHAFT THRUST WASHERS

All 300, 400 and 500 Series Deere diesel engines using flangeless thrust bearings must also use thrust washers. 300 Series engines require four thrust washers while 400 and 500 Series engines require three thrust washers. When using three thrust washers, they are installed on both sides of the bearing cap and on the rear side of the block web only. When using four thrust washers, they are installed on both sides of the bearing cap and on the front and rear sides of the block web. The slotted face position should be installed toward the crankshaft flange.
